(Pre) Feasibility Studies

Before undertaking any medium to large project the discipline of undertaking a pro-feasibility / feasibility study is essential and should be targeted at three major outcomes:

The discipline of carrying out the study, independently, with dispassion.  While the financials of the study will provide economic/financial measures and outcomes for the project the other disciplines involved are necessary to provide an honest assessment of the project.  The study of all of the parameters of the project may well indicate negative or problem outcomes (tight markets, difficulty of supply, labour supply or training issues etc) however identifying issues at this stage also allows planning to be proactive and the project to be  structured to minimize negative outcomes.
A feasibility study document formalises the issues in a project and becomes a consensus decision tool providing a common direction and defined outcomes for all parties involved to work to.
A properly completed feasibility study and associated documentation becomes a financial bankable document providing support and outcomes to support funding and financial arrangements..
